T IS FOR TRANSITION
The time is quickly approaching for a big step in your student’s life….the transition from elementary to middle school. It is a time of excitement and some apprehension, not only for students, but also for parents.
If you are interested in Middle School Magnet and Early College Options (Leadership Academies), please attend the Magnet and Early College Schools Fair on Saturday, November 7th 2015 at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School 9am-12pm to explore options.
Each middle school will be holding an Open House for parents and students to attend. Some of you have already received flyers from your child’s middle school. At the Open House you will get information about the school and its programs. Most schools also give a tour of the school at this time.
Attending the Open House is very important in helping your child transition to middle school. Being able to walk around the school and hear about various opportunities that will be offered will relieve some of his or her anxieties. In May I will be visiting fifth grade classes to talk about this transition and students will practice using combination locks.
I will be listing below the Open House dates for schools which our students will be attending. You are also encouraged to visit your child’s middle school website to learn more about the school and its programs. There is lots of good information on each school's website.
